Nyangorora Banana Processing Group is a company investing in tissue culture technology and value-addition of bananas with the aim of alleviating poverty in Kisii County. Nyangorora Banana Processors, Limited began as a farmer’s field school under the Kenya Agricultural and Livestock Research Organization (KALRO) before being registered as Nyangorora Banana Youth Group in 2006 and a Kenyan limited liability company in 2009.
Nyangorora Banana Processors whose main product is banana crisps, also produces Banana flour, banana bread, banana wine and banana juice. The banana juice and wine, both alcoholic and non-alcoholic are produced from the ‘desert variety’ which is readily available in the area as was provided by the government to the locals. NBP sells directly to customers through commissioned sales staff and indirectly through hawkers, small retailers and national-level distributors.
