Azuri Health Limited was established in 2010 and commercially distributes and markets nutritious, naturally produced products from its processing facility sourced from farmers locally. The main products are vegetable based nutriporridge, sweet potato flour, dried mangoes, dried pineapples, dried bananas, and dried coconuts.
Every year, enormous amounts of fruit and vegetables go to waste, because farmers are simply unable to get them to market, or can’t sell them quickly enough when they do. The process of conventional drying as a method of preserving food has proved to be difficult due to the high cost of fuel used during the drying process. As a result, Azuri Health Limited has come up with an inexpensive alternative whereby farmers can use solar drying method instead of electricity.
The impacts of this project include improved market access by smallholder farmers and reduction of post-harvest loss resulting to improved livelihoods. Also, the use of solar energy to dry the produce contributes to reduction of GHC emissions
